At a tour of the New Settlement School Pre-K program in the Bronx, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio urged the Obama Administration to put cities at the center of its new expansion of Pre-K programs. President Obama announced his administration would pursue an expansion of those programs during last week’s State of the Union address. In a letter sent today to Education Secretary Arne Duncan, de Blasio pointed to successful early education models used by cities across the country and made the case for a more direct partnership with municipalities to execute the President’s plan.
