Following recent reports that New York City plans to terminate the Mayor’s Office of Recovery’s hotel stay program on April 30, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio today called on the Bloomberg Administration to extend the hotel stay program or develop alternative housing options for the hundreds of New Yorkers dislocated by Hurricane Sandy who depend on this critical program. De Blasio warned the City against adding to an overcrowded homeless shelter system and setting hard deadlines before accessible, long-term housing solutions are in place for all New York City families.
